12:02 am - Nerd HALP Please...
I am so into online space games. I used to play Earth and Beyond...loved this so much. Now I am looking of other PC Space games. Does not have to be online. I have seen Eve Online, don't like that you do not have a character that never docks. I just saw X3 and this looks really awesome.

Thoughts?

02:37 pm - Job Market
This economy is insane. Last I heard was that Cincinnati was at over an 8% unemployment rate. It may have gotten better since then, but 8%?!

I have been trying to help a friend, that works in the Property Management and has had schooling in freight dealership, find a position. There are listings and her resume has been sent out to around 20 places and no one is bitting.

What else is out there? Anyone know of anything, even if it's not in the above named fields?

"This place seems unfamiliar, yet I know it well.
I think I used to belong here..."

Enough Poe. The lovely corporate life has improved greatly lately. I recently (4 weeks recently) was promoted. I am now training employees on my previous position. It's a stressful, mostly 10 hour days, challenging and incredibly rewarding position.

Basics are, I spend the majority of my time in front of a classroom of new employees and teach them about banking. The other parts are preparation, grading tests, organizing and listening to office gossip.
Really the last one seems like a huge part of my day. Since I am now considered part of management I hear just about EVERYTHING that these other managers gossip about. I will never lie to you and tell you I hate gossip. I just prefer not to do it myself if possible to avoid. I am fine to 11 sitting all day listening to you tell me the juiciest of details about Betty's recent boob job but I just nod, smile and laugh when appropriate. That about covers that.

I actually LOVE my job. I get up at 6:30ish AM and do not complain. I go to work with coffee in hand and am ready to go. I have never been a morning person and worked 12:00-8:30 until a month ago. It does not seem as though the transition actually bothered me in the slightest.

This month I have shadowed the other trainer to learn the tricks of the trade. I did get to classroom teach 17 people as well as stand in as extra help whenever necessary. Today they graduated after a 5 week class. (Did not join the group til the 2nd week) At graduation my partner made a point of thanking me in front of the class of 17 and a group of about 15 managers. I was shocked. The response was so incredible. The class openly cheered for me. I never saw it coming. The reviews and feedback I received was so positive that after 4 weeks of feeling as though I was fumbling blindly I realized that I just might be okay at this.

I feel so positive about this career path I cannot really explain right now how good it feels. Only time will tell.

I do want to give a HUGE thank you to Shadow for being there for me and helping me out. You know what you have done and it means the world. Thank you for being there, listening and working out the kinks.

12:00 pm - Island Living
So I am starting to think that I may just really enjoy island living.

This weekend I was at a work paid for event in Sandusky, OH. They paid for three days at Cedar Point, two nights at a hotel right in Cedar Point and right on the beach, two nights of free dinner, 12 drinks, and a 50.00 gift card. Also, my manager spent Friday evening feeding adult beverages to right around 30 people. All of this was for you and one guest. So I would certainly say they were not cheap.

I enjoyed the park but not nearly as much as I used to. I spent most of the time hanging out with coworkers and having some drinks and then spending time walking around Put-In-Bay. The center of town on the island is really wild and full of drunks most of the day and increases in the night. But off the beaten path are these well maintained, quaint houses which the noise does not seem to reach. Also, you can spend your time there driving golf carts or riding mopeds.

Also, the storm rolling in off of Lake Erie was just beautiful, which I would have watched from the park if the rain had not felt like rocks being pelted at your heads in a sideways slant. Seriously hard rain.

I also loved the Ferry Ride, which was a jet ferry, so it moved faster. I could own a boat, hell I believe I could live on a boat. The rocking makes me want to sleep like a baby and relaxes me more then almost anything.

So it was a good time. A wonderful getaway. And I am spending my last day off until Sunday doing very little.

cut for possible insanity )

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
You are highly motivated today, yet you're not likely to show your cards now. It's not that you are specifically attempting to be secretive; it's just that you know more than others think you do -- and you'll be better off if you can keep it this way for a while longer.

04:03 pm - I need a car!!!
I normally like things like apartment hunting or car shopping but now I am utterly exhausted and just want it done with.

First I need to find a car. Unfortunately my car that the semi decided to become close with did not have much of a blue book value even though the dern thing was fabulously reliable. So now I have 2000.00 to play with to get a car. And no, payments are not an option at this point. So if anyone knows of anyone who knows of anyone that is selling what seems to be or what is a reliable car for cheap please let me know.

After this...apartment hunting. *yawn*

I know that [info]virtually_chuck is asking about favorite horror movies.

I am interested in hearing about ghost stories. Strange things that happened to you. I don't care how long they are and if you are worried that people may think you nuts feel free to post anonymously.

03:19 pm - Why can nothing be simple with me?
So I decide to go grocery shopping in Kentucky today. The shopping goes swimmingly. It's not til I get to my car that things become much more complicated. I realize that I have locked my keys in it. This is really now abnormal for me, I have locked my keys in every car I have owned and some that I didn't own. And it never fails that I manage to drive or own the cars that are extremely complicated to break into.
Now my Nissan is nothing really special. There are no power locks...really nothing power at all is in this car. So I am thinking that this could be a simple task.

So please sign and leave good comments about Ric!

07:06 pm - Hmmm...interesting
You Should Be a Film Writer

You don't just create compelling stories, you see them as clearly as a movie in your mind.
You have a knack for details and dialogue. You can really make a character come to life.
Chances are, you enjoy creating all types of stories. The joy is in the storytelling.
And nothing would please you more than millions of people seeing your story on the big screen!

02:46 pm - Argh!
If anyone knows where I can locally get a projector bulb for a Toshiba projector, bulb is TLPLV4 please let me know. I am willing to drive to Lexington, Louisville, Dayton...and surrounding areas.

Online sites have been nothing short of useless with their customer service.

I need this today or tomorrow.

Please help so as I do not have to hunt down the customer service reps from the online sites that screwed JC and kill them.

thanksthatisall.
